Communicating with confidence through change

Organisational change is challenging for everyone and can be particularly testing for leaders.

You may be a senior figure leading teams through transformational change, or you may have moved to a more senior role, or you may be charged with taking the organisation in a different direction. All these scenarios have their own challenges.

There are many ways in which coaching can support a leader to have the necessary skills, resilience and approach to prepare for change and to drive and deliver change, but this toolkit is focused on developing communication skills.

Why focus on communication?

Communication builds trust

How you communicate as a leader is how you build relationships and trust. I have witnessed talented and skilled leaders who have made a small unintentional misstep or oversight in their communications, which has resulted in them losing the trust and confidence of their teams. A small mistake can undermine the whole change programme.

This toolkit is designed to give you confidence in communicating so that you can be an effective leader with your stakeholders. It is not a magic wand which will make all the challenges disappear, and nor is it a quick fix, but it will take you through the steps necessary to avoid some of the common pitfalls. In times of change and instability you can’t afford to not get your communications right.

By giving your communication planning the time and attention it deserves you will be more likely to thrive and not just survive through change.
